How Florence Clinic increased productivity with SISQUAL® WFM

In 2018, Florence Clinic decided to move forward with its workforce management, seeking greater productivity and operational control. To this end, it chose SISQUAL® WFM as its partner, intending to boost and optimize its daily processes thanks to its Workforce Management (WFM) software.  

Florence Clinic was founded in 2017 in Salvador, Bahia, to offer humanized, patient-centered care. It is a health unit that differs from traditional hospitals due to its basic concept: being a transitional hospital.    

It is a healthcare entity that promotes interdisciplinary care specializing in rehabilitation and palliative care patients, almost always from general hospitals, who have a definite diagnosis and still require a high intensity of care.  

With two service units, Salvador (96 beds) and Recife (76 beds), a team of 380 experienced and qualified professionals, committed to comprehensive patient care, has a well-defined goal: to offer a comprehensive care service for the legitimate needs of patients and their families, in their physical, psychological, spiritual, and social dimensions.  

The need for change. The goal: productivity!    

Due to the evolution of the sector and its desire to offer more and better healthcare, Florence Clinic felt the need to develop in all its sectors.  

In 2021, it began its expansion to other capitals in the Northeast of Brazil, inaugurating its Recife Unit.   

In addition, to optimize its productivity, the work schedules of all its healthcare professionals, and the care it provides to its patients, the company looked for a work management solution that would help achieve these goals.   

Ivan Santana, Director of People and Culture at Florence Clinic , said:   

“When we decided to hire SISQUAL® WFM, we wanted to move from manual rostering to an automated model. What happened was that we discovered other benefits with this contract.”   

The partnership with SISQUAL® WFM      

Since the Workforce Management process is carried out exclusively by SISQUAL® WFM, from 2018 to 2023, the clinic expanded it’s business, which has grown by 428% in 5 years.

It has also led to greater cost savings, avoiding unnecessary expenses. In terms of figures, Florence estimates that it has reduced monthly transport voucher expenses by around 30% and potential overtime costs by around 60%.

The implementation project began in 2018 at the Salvador unit, with 70 licenses. Today, together with the clinical unit in Recife, by 2023 this number has risen to 300.      

The different teams can take advantage of various SISQUAL® WFM modules:

  • SISQUAL® Time & Attendance: With this module, service managers at Clínica Florence units can manage their teams’ attendance data and gain greater control over absenteeism and overtime.     
  • SISQUAL® Quality of Life Portal + APP: A fundamental module for maintaining a balance between professional and personal life. Through the application, teams can record attendance, request vacation appointments, change schedules and justify absences.  
  • SISQUAL® Operations Cockpit: The right professional, in the right unit, with the right schedule. Through the module, managers can control the management of employees’ daily tasks; act in real time to optimize processes; and increase productivity by helping to leverage their skills. 
  • SISQUAL® SalaryCalc: The invoicing team can now automatically calculate the hours worked, thus helping to process salaries accurately and more efficiently.

Before and after SISQUAL® WFM     

For Ivan Santana, Director of People and Culture at Florence Clinic, there is a before and after, following the implementation of SISQUAL® WFM, noting that:   

“The economic return is evident. We pay less as a result of greater control over staff hours. In addition, there is greater legal protection. The tool allows us to parameterize all the employment laws that exist (…) giving us better working conditions, focusing on what’s important, which is managing people.”  

He adds:   

“The people who work at Florence assume that work has become easier, more efficient and that it is now possible to have measurable results and objectives.  


With the platform, it’s possible to guarantee better patient care and safety. The hours of work are handed over to the manager, there’s no need to hand them over to professionals, locked in a room, whether it’s HR or another area, making the work more fluid.”  

Finally, asked what the final balance of SISQUAL® WFM is, Ivan Santana concludes:   

“The impact is mainly on the organization because, at the end of the day, we can better manage the resources we have at our disposal and the people who can do the work. I’m sure that other healthcare tools would benefit from using SISQUAL® WFM. If I could define Florence’s relationship with SISQUAL® it would be productivity.”
