ABC Supermarkets optimise in-store staffing with SISQUAL® WFM

The ABC Group, one of the largest supermarket chains in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, has chosen SISQUAL® WFM to optimise in-store staffing levels, thereby increasing operational efficiency and enhancing the shopping experience for its customers.

Founded on 13 September 1982, the Group began its journey with a small shop, a small team and a limited product range. More than four decades later, it has established itself as one of the leading players in the region’s food retail sector, maintaining sustained growth and a strong commitment to quality of service.

It currently employs over 7,000 staff and operates in 45 municipalities across Minas Gerais, with more than 74 shops, 31 chemists, and 14 petrol stations.

A personalised customer service approach is one of the ABC Group’s key competitive advantages, complemented by a strategy focused on operational efficiency, technological innovation and strategic people management.

To support its objectives of growth and operational excellence, the ABC Group has implemented the following SISQUAL® WFM modules:

  •    SISQUAL® Auto Scheduling – Automates the creation of timetables, increasing operational efficiency and reducing the planning workload.
  •    SISQUAL® Operations Cockpit – Centralises the planning, monitoring and management of operations on a single platform.
  •    SISQUAL® Forecast – Forecasts staffing requirements based on historical data and demand patterns.
  •    SISQUAL® Team Dimensioning – Supports the strategic sizing and allocation of teams in line with forecast demand.
  •    SISQUAL® Dashboard – Provides key performance indicators and a consolidated view of operations to enable more informed decision-making.

SISQUAL® WFM also integrates with the point-of-sale software already used by the supermarket chain, fostering greater collaboration between departments such as Human Resources, Operations and Sales, and ensuring more efficient workforce management.

In the latest edition of the ABRAS (Brazilian Supermarket Association) Ranking, ABC was highlighted as the 4th-largest supermarket company headquartered in Minas Gerais and the 22nd-largest in Brazil.

By implementing this tool, the Group is thus reinforcing its commitment to digital transformation and the optimisation of its processes, ensuring that the right teams are in the right places at the right time to meet customers’ needs.

This new partnership also reflects SISQUAL® WFM’s commitment to continuing to support the digitalisation of the Brazilian food retail sector, contributing to more efficient, competitive operations prepared for future challenges.
