On 1 December, University Santa Casa de São Paulo, one of Brazil’s most traditional and renowned philanthropic institutions, officially signed a partnership agreement with SISQUAL® WFM to bring, for the first time in the history of Brazilian higher education, the subject of Workforce Management (WFM) directly into the academic curriculum of healthcare students.
The partnership marks a pioneering, strategic move in the sector, connecting education, technology, and modern people management practices to prepare future healthcare professionals for the real challenges faced in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Founded 460 years ago, the Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo also plays a fundamental role in Brazilian medical education through the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de SP, which trains more than 100 doctors per year, in addition to other healthcare professionals.
WFM at the centre of the sector’s transformation
Through this synergy, SISQUAL® WFM is now part of the undergraduate nursing and postgraduate data analysis technology courses at the University of Santa Casa de SP, offering students classes taught by qualified professionals in people management, technology and human resources.
The curriculum will cover fundamental concepts such as team dimensioning, schedule/shift planning, and operational management analysis, with the aim of optimising processes and supporting students’ decision-making.

The inclusion of the WFM discipline in the academic curriculum was born of the strategic vision of Professor Rafael Eidi Goto, director of courses at Faculdade da Santa Casa, who recognised the need to bring teaching closer to the practical realities of hospitals, especially in people management.
