The Spanish supermarket chain MasyMas, a brand of the family-owned company Hijos de Luis Rodríguez, S.A., has taken another step forward in its operational modernisation strategy by investing in an updated version of SISQUAL® WFM. The aim is to digitalise planning and attendance management processes, optimise team management, and promote closer, more efficient communication with staff.
With this technological advancement, the organisation is moving towards an increasingly digital operation, reducing its reliance on paper-based processes and enhancing the efficiency of its workforce management processes.
Founded in 1932 in Oviedo, Hijos de Luis Rodríguez, S.A. is a family-owned company with 100% Asturian capital, currently led by the third generation of the Rodríguez family. Over more than nine decades of activity, the company has established itself as a leading player in food distribution in Asturias. Today, it has over 1,800 employees and serves more than 300,000 families through the MasyMas supermarkets and its mYm and minymas franchise network.
WFM for more efficient and collaborative management
In a context where the food retail sector faces growing challenges in team management, resource availability, and the need to guarantee high service levels, the digitalisation of processes is playing an increasingly important role.
SISQUAL® WFM will enable MasyMas to optimise operational planning, improve shift management and provide staff with digital tools that simplify communication and access to real-time information.
The project involves updating a set of modules, including:
- SISQUAL® Quality of Life APP – greater autonomy and a better experience for staff and managers;
- SISQUAL® Time & Attendance – efficient management of timetables, attendance and time tracking;
- SISQUAL® Operations Cockpit – real-time operational monitoring;
- SISQUAL® Team Dimensioning – optimised team sizing;
- SISQUAL® Forecast – forecasting of operational requirements based on demand;
- SISQUAL® Auto Scheduling – automatic planning of shifts and timetables.
The tool also integrates with the ‘Grupo Castillo’ HR management system, ensuring greater data consistency and more efficient management of operational processes.
People at the heart of transformation
MaysMas’s commitment to technology aligns with the organisational culture of Hijos de Luis Rodríguez, S.A., which is recognised for its strong people-oriented approach. In 2023, Forbes named the company one of the 100 best companies to work for in Spain.
Among the factors highlighted by the publication are the continuous investment in technological tools to support team management, the promotion of internal communication, the commitment to training, and the implementation of innovative work-life balance measures, such as the four-day working week for certain roles.
This recognition reinforces the company’s vision of using technology to enhance operational efficiency and the employee experience, as well as the direct benefits of implementing SISQUAL® WFM.
SISQUAL® WFM has an established presence in some of the leading Spanish companies in the sector, including Mercadona, Fragadis, Alimerka, Condis and Carrefour. Internationally, it has key clients such as Metro AG and continues to expand its operations in emerging markets, including Mexico, where it has already implemented the tool in the Tiendas Bara food retail chain.
