This standard is an extension of ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27002, focusing specifically on the protection of personal data and aligning with regulations such as the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in the European Union and LGPD (General Personal Data Protection Law) in Brazil.
The importance of ISO/IEC 27701
ISO/IEC 27701 provides guidelines for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving an information privacy management system, helping companies that control or process personal data to mitigate risks associated with privacy, while maintaining compliance with data protection regulations.
